然而美国著名财经记者詹姆斯·苏罗维奇（James Surowiecki）迅速在其社交媒体上表示，刚弄清楚美国政府所展示的这些虚假关税税率是从哪里来的（Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from），简直是一派胡言（What extraordinary nonsense this is）！
他在推文中称：“他们实际上并没有像他们所说的那样计算。相反，对每个国家来说，他们只是把美国对该国的贸易赤字除以这个国家对美国的出口额。以印尼为例，美国与印尼的贸易逆差为179亿美元。印尼对美国的出口额为280亿美元，17.9/28=64%，这就是特朗普声称印尼对美国征收的关税税率。”They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia. Its exports to us are $28 billion. $17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is the tariff rate Indonesia charges us. What extraordinary nonsense this is.
