Well, Steichen should be thinking about it and trouble No. 2: Owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon put him and Ballard on notice at the end of last year that the expectations for this year would be high.

Ballard is gone, so if the current trend continues firing Steichen is the next logical move. Maybe Steichen can survive the looming garage sale of players over the next couple of weeks.

But Steichen would be wise to also put himself on "Colts transaction watch."
