Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum’s NBA drama is more entertaining than it should be

Here are some quick takes on the state of the Tatum-Brown relationship right now:

• I could be wrong about this, but … the Celtics *probably* told Tatum they were going to trade Brown just to make sure he didn’t have a bad reaction to it. In that sense, Brown likely isn’t wrong for using the cap emoji in response to Tatum saying he was totally caught off guard.
• Tatum’s response is far more mature, and this situation is clearly eating away at him a little bit. I’m sure he enjoyed his years with Brown. They won so many games, and that 2024 championship banner will hang forever.
• Brown seems to be using that trade and Tatum’s comments as motivation, which basically every athlete does.

This should be a non-story, but that’s never going to happen because fans love drama. Brown is probably going to keep leaning in, and Tatum is probably going to continue to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. This is all very silly, but whatever. Get back to me in 2035 and we’ll see who really won the Jaylen Brown trade.
