The divisional round of postseason baseball is well underway, and the MLB on Fox team all seem to be having fun – well, mostly everyone.

On Wednesday afternoon, before Game 4 of the ALDS between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers, host Kevin Burkhardt playfully brought out Derek Jeter’s cologne, Derek Jeter Driven.

Burkhardt playfully sprayed it on the desk before David Ortiz snatched it from him.

The MLB on Fox crew is known for having a good time, but Jeter didn’t seem to be in the mood for Ortiz’s antics on this particular day.

The Boston Red Sox legend grabbed the cologne bottle and sprayed it onto his former New York Yankees rival.

But Ortiz wasn’t satisfied with just one, as he hit Jeter with about four sprays.

“Not too much, not too much,” Jeter said, clearly annoyed but polite.

“I thought cologne was like one or two, not like seven squirts,” Burkhardt chimed in.

Jeter was a good sport during the segment, but he was clearly a bit annoyed with Ortiz. Of course, it was no harm, no foul—as the former rivals turned coworkers have shared plenty of enjoyable moments over the last few seasons.

Jeter joined the Fox family in 2023, while Ortiz has been part of the team since 2017. It’s one of the few baseball shows on the air that delivers quality analysis while also being genuinely entertaining.

The fourth member of the team, alongside Burkhardt, Jeter, and Ortiz, is Alex Rodriguez, who has delivered plenty of memorable moments both on the field and in the studio.

What works for them, works for them—and sometimes, they’ll get ticked off at each other. That’s what makes it work. It makes for good television.

As for the game, the Mariners jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the fifth, but the Tigers responded with nine unanswered runs to save their season and force a deciding Game 5 back in Seattle.

“We believe,” left fielder Riley Greene said after the game. “We’re never out of the game, no matter what, and we always believe in ourselves.”

The game was knotted at 3 apiece in the sixth before Greene launched a solo shot into right field, grabbing the lead and sparking a four-run inning.

A lead that the Tigers wouldn’t relinquish.

Game 5 will be on Friday, with Detroit’s ace, and arguably the best pitcher in baseball, Tarik Skubal taking the mound.

Skubal got the start in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Mariners, taking a tough 3–2 loss despite a strong outing. Over seven innings, he allowed two runs on five hits and one walk, striking out nine on 97 pitches.
