To make matters worse for Man Utd they face Liverpool after the next international break so they have to make this game count or face the potential of slipping into the conversation of bottom three.

Sunderland defensive strengths

The Black Cats have mostly succeeded this season due to not letting too many goals slip away.

With three clean sheets, and only one game where they’ve conceded 2+ goals, they’ve shown they can be consistent.

It will be tough away from home but they’ve done it already against Palace and Nottingham Forest.

Sunderland have never fared well against Man United even spanning the last 30 league meetings, but that tide can always change when teams start going in opposite directions.

United’s strength is in their home form currently, with two wins from their last two at home – but while Sunderland are on this form they look likelier to get a point rather than another win.

Wilson Isidor has been on fire for Sunderland this season.

Scoring not only consistently but crucial goals to win matches.

He’s earned his place in the starting XI consistently now too and continually gets chances.

Benjamin Sesko has made progress for Man Utd and is a huge aerial threat.

He got his first goal in the Premier League against Brentford last weekend and can continue to make progress against Sunderland.
