Dorian Finney-Smith is expected to miss the Houston Rockets' season-opener against the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 21 as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery.
"No, probably not," Ime Udoka said when asked if Finney-Smith would be ready for the opener.
Udoka had no timeline on Finney-Smith's return.
Finney-Smith has yet to be cleared for contact, though he is participating in camp.
Finney-Smith, who signed a four-year, $53 million deal with the Rockets over the summer, underwent the procedure in June.
