Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner are taking Ray J to court.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Kardashian’s attorney Alex Spiro filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J (real name William Ray Norwood Jr.) in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 1. Kardashian, 44, and Jenner, 69, claimed in the docs that Ray J’s remarks against their family have created “substantial and ongoing harm to their personal and professional reputation.”

The docs also alleged that Ray J, who previously dated Kardashian, is “unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago.” Kardashian and Jenner claimed that Ray J, 44, has repeatedly exploited their infamous relationship over the years.

Kardashian and Jenner are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. TMZ was first to report the news.

The lawsuit comes nearly one week after Ray J went viral for comments he made during a September live stream via X. The musician claimed that Kardashian and Jenner were involved in a federal criminal racketeering investigation.

“The federal RICO I’m about to drop on Kris and Kim is about to be crazy,” Ray J claimed in the clip. “I’m talking about, I’m on the news every day. I’m gonna say a lot of s***. Anybody that is cool with Kim, they need to tell her now, the feds is coming. There’s nothing I can do about it.”

Ray J also claimed that Kardashian and Jenner’s alleged legal trouble was going to be “worse” than Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent legal battle.

“Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise – but this false and serious allegation left no choice,” Spiro said in a statement to Us.

This is not the first time Ray J has made claims about Kardashian being allegedly involved in racketeering. Back in May, Ray J appeared in a Tubi documentary about Diddy’s case and spoke about Kardashian and her family. (Ray J previously defended Diddy amid his legal trouble.)

“If you told me that the Kardashians were being charged for racketeering, I might believe it,” he alleged.

Ray J has a lot of history with the Kardashian family. The rapper and the Skims founder started dating in 2003. They called it quits three years later.

“We loved each other. Every relationship I was in, I loved the girl. It’s just the moral standards and values were off. I was loving and lying,” Ray J recalled of his relationship with Kardashian during a 2017 episode of Celebrity Big Brother U.K.

Following their breakup, Ray J and Kardashian made headlines when their infamous sex tape was released in 2007, the same year Kardashian’s show Keeping Up With the Kardashians premiered.

More than a decade after the sex tape drama, rumors swirled that there was more unreleased footage of Kardashian and Ray J. Kardashian claimed that her now estranged husband, Kanye West, delivered the entire tape to her after meeting with Ray J.

“So Kanye flew home last night, and he came back this morning. I want to show you guys what he got me. He got me all of the sex tape back,” she said during a 2022 episode of The Kardashians. “He flew home, and he got the computer it was on and the hard drive. He met with Ray J at the airport, and he got it all back for me.”

Ray J subsequently denied Kardashian’s claims.

“I’ve sat in the shadows for over 14 years allowing the Kardashians to use my name, to abuse my name, make billions of dollars over a decade and a half talking about a topic I’ve never really spoken about,” he said to the Daily Mail in May 2022. “I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak.”
