Selma Blair is nothing but iconic thanks to her roles in films like Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde — but her 14-year-old son, Arthur, has a bit of a different opinion.
On Instagram, Blair recently shared that her son had recently watched 1999’s Cruel Intentions, where she portrays the devious Cecile, for the first time. While speaking exclusively to Us Weekly, the actress revealed that Arthur had a few questions once the credits rolled. (Blair shares Arthur with ex Jason Bleick.)
“When he came home from Cruel Intentions, he’s like, ‘Mom, do you wanna explain something?’ And I was like, ‘What, that kiss?’ He’s like, ‘No! Cecile did that in the movie,'” Blair, 53, exclusively joked to Us Weekly, miming a NSFW facial gesture. “And I never realized when I was doing that in a movie, that one day I would have a son that would come home and say, “Mom, what’s this?” He knows darn well what that is! He was just giving me the guff. …I’m not easily embarrassed, but I’m kind of embarrassed he doesn’t want to see any of my other films.”
She continued, “I [asked,] ‘Why don’t you watch more movies that I do?’ [He’s] like, ‘I don’t really love black-and-white movies, Mom.’ I laugh every time. I’ve said it a couple times since he said it. He really just thinks I’m Dorothy age, before technicolor work, like in the ‘30s.”
Selma Blair Finds Her Glow — And Confidence — With New Beauty Partnership
Blair was speaking to Us while discussing her new partnership with ESK skincare. She’s in a glowy, great spot, and doesn’t care who knows it.
“I never thought I’d be so happy to go back to work, because who wants to work? I do. I like it,” she said. “I like being here. It makes me happy to bring [these skincare products] to the people that have stood by me like a loyal fan base. And a lot of them are the disability community or have autoimmune issues, and might not have as much spare pocket change to spend on a regimen of four or five, six products a night. So it was really important that the people who knew me knew, okay, we’re trying to put as much great stuff as we can into one product, if that’s gonna be the one they’re gonna buy, to really feel like they’re still getting the best you can do. So [that] makes me happy.”

The skincare partnership — including a just-launched product, Ultimate A Gold — is just one project Blair currently has in the works.
“It’s all blessings,” she told Us. “Right now, every time I get a job or have support, it means everything to me. We live this life to try and have some creative outlet or some productive thing, or to make a difference to someone. Being able to go and spend time now with people on a set or creating something in a part of me that’s much more comfortable in my own skin, especially once I had my [MS] diagnosis because I didn’t know myself. I was always told it was in my head, when, in fact, I was living with it for quite a long time. So that was a life-changing thing for the better.”
