Manchester United are targeting their first points of the season when they travel to Fulham on Sunday.

The Red Devils slipped to a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, despite putting in a valiant effort.

Ruben Amorim’s side put in a much improved display against the Gunners but a goalkeeping blunder from Altay Bayindir handed Riccardo Califiori a simple finish in a game where United were unlucky to come away empty handed.

Meanwhile, Fulham left it late at Brighton to pick up their first point of the new campaign.

Rodrigo Muniz slotted home deep into injury time to salvage a 1-1 draw at Brighton last Saturday.

Marco Silva’s men will be hoping to build on their performance at the AMEX Stadium by piling the pressure on the Manchester United boss.

Sunday’s trip to Craven Cottage is already a key clash for Amorim who can ill-afford to fall further behind the chasing pack so early in the season.

Fulham vs Manchester United: Team news

Despite his error against Arsenal Bayindir is set to retain his place between the posts despite last season’s No.1 Andre Onana having returned to full fitness.

Amorim told reporters Bayindir was preferred in goal against Arsenal over the Cameroonian because of his pre-season performances.

Summer signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha impressed on their debuts and are set to start at Craven Cottage.

The same can be said for Mason Mount who impressed alongside Mbeumo and Cunha against Mikel Arteta’s men.

Benjamin Sesko, who made his debut as a second-half substitute, could be handed his first start for the club.

Amorim may look to start Amad Diallo after his energetic display against the Gunners after replacing Diogo Dalot in the second-half.

Meanwhile, Fulham are set to be without Antonee Robinson again as he continues his recovery from knee surgery in May.

Ryan Sessegnon is a doubt for the clash after missing last weekend’s opener and Emile Smith Rowe is pushing for a start after playing the final 20 minutes at the AMEX Stadium.

Muniz could be handed a starting berth ahead of Raul Jimenez after his last-gasp heroics.

Fulham vs Manchester United: What has been said?

Manchester United boss Amorim was proud of his side’s display against Arsenal and says the attributes shown were an upgrade on last season.

“We were more aggressive than last year,” the Portuguese told Sky Sports.

“We sprinted more, we were more brave, we went one against one all of the game. We pressed high and then with the ball we had quality.

“Even when the stadium makes some sounds, we continued to play the way we play. We lost fewer balls in the build-up compared to last year, we struggled a lot.

“Then the small things that we talk about in the beginning of this season. Players like Cunha, like Bryan, one moment can elevate the stadium.

“So I think the most important thing, we were not boring.”
