Kirsten Dunst is getting ready for her next big role in "Roofman," which will premiere in theaters in October 2025.

However, according to Dunst, filming the crime comedy—alongside Channing Tatum, by the way—might not have come with the hefty paycheck many likely assume it would.

In fact, in a new interview, Kirsten Dunst, 43, took it even further, opening up about the pay disparity she has experienced while working in Hollywood.

Speaking to Town & Country, Dunst, who has had a decorated career since beginning her journey as a child actress in the late '80s, joked about possibly being cast in the next "Minecraft" movie, considering the first installment with Jack Black and Jason Momoa grossed over $950 million at the box office.

Dunst's comments only spiraled, sparking another conversation about her pay. “Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?” the iconic actress said.

Kirsten Dunst Has Spoken Out About Pay Disparity Before

And this isn't the first time Dunst has spoken out about not being paid what she believes she's worth. In a TikTok video posted by BBC, Dunst explained that she was used to experiencing pay disparities throughout her career.

Then, Dunst mentioned how her "Spider-Man" co-star, Tobey Maguire, was paid millions of dollars more than she was in the 2002 version of the popular movie.

According to Dunst, she still brought home a smaller paycheck than Maguire "even though [I] had been in 'Bring It On' and he hadn't."

For those unfamiliar, "Bring It On" hit theatres in 2000 and grossed over $90.5 million at the box office.

"I had more success in my box office than he did," she said.

"I didn't even think to ask [for more money]. I was 17. I was still learning. When you're that age, I'm still learning my taste in film. I didn't even know there was a place to challenge [my pay]. That's how it felt at 17," Dunst explained.

After her comments to BBC were shared online, fans chimed in on the conversation and showered Dunst with love.

"Kirsten Dunst has soo many great films," a user wrote. "She was my childhood as well."

Somebody else wrote, "Girl, 'Bring It On,' ... you better talk about 'Interview with the Vampire.' She was a child and bodied that role."

Another commented, "Not only that, was she in 'Little Women' and 'Jumanji.' Great successes!!"

"Kirsten Dunst was THAT GIRL," another user posted. "Some of the best films. ... So many others, but those are my faves! Can't wait to see her in 'Civil War.'"

Other users mentioned Dunst's commercial success and critical acclaim, which includes several accolades for her work in films such as "Melancholia," "Fargo," "Get Over It," "Mona Lisa Smile," and "The Virgin Suicides." She also received an Academy Award nomination for "The Power of the Dog" in 2022.

In another interview with Variety, Dunst explained that at some point during her career, she accepted roles she wasn't passionate about to collect a paycheck.

"When I was younger, in my 20s, I didn’t have the best guidance, I would say, and I did a couple of duds for money reasons, but nothing that I would have actually done otherwise,” she said. “I get offered the most money on things I don’t want to do. As soon as I took the reins and started to develop my tastes and who I wanted to work with, everything shifted.”

According to a previous report from The Blast, Dunst once discussed the behind-the-scenes madness she had to deal with before officially signing on to play the role of Mary Jane in "Spider-Man."

Even in 2021, Dunst was candid about the pay disparity between herself and Maguire. She explained that although the pay gap was "extreme," she wasn't overly concerned about it at the time. "I was just like, ‘Oh yeah, Tobey [Maguire] is playing Spider-Man.’ But you know who was on the cover of the second ‘Spider-Man’ poster? Spider-Man and me," she said.

Something else that rubbed Dunst the wrong way was that the film's producers wanted her to get her teeth straightened for the part. Despite declining, Dunst was still cast in the movie thanks to her connection with the director Sofia Coppola.
