Love Is Blind UK season 2 star Demola Ayilara has an unexpected connection to former Bachelorette winner Dotun Olubeko.

“For those asking, yes, he’s my cousin,” Dotun, 32, wrote via his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, August 20, detailing how he was “sat” to find out whether Demola, 31, found lasting love in the pods. “[We] met later in life due to living in different counties, but clicked right off the bat.”

He continued, “Neither of us ever considered or seeked reality TV, but it found us both independently. Crazyyy how life happens.”

Demola, for his part, revealed via his Instagram Stories that he initially met Dotun several years ago.

“Dotun is my long-lost cousin, who I met for the first time in my late teens,” Demola wrote on Wednesday. “Ever since then, we’ve been solid [and] had many adventures together. He’s my guy, and, of course, Charity is his beautiful missus. I love them both.”

While Dotun met now-fiancée Charity Lawson on season 20 of The Bachelorette, Demola recently joined Love Is Blind across the pond. Throughout the first batch of episodes, Demola was all-in on Katisha Atkinson, who was also interested in contestant Javen Palmer.

Despite Katisha, 31, proclaiming to Demola that she wanted to get engaged to him, she changed her mind at the last minute and accepted Javen’s proposal. In the latest batch of Love Is Blind episodes, Katisha reunited with Demola after leaving the pods.

“It was a surprise ‘cause I walked in thinking, ‘This is the moment,’” he said in the footage, recalling their breakup scene. “This [was] who I saw potentially being my future wife. I wrote a proposal [speech], and just the opposite happened. It was a big shock at the time. I just felt a little bit blindsided.”

Katisha, for her part, explained that she had been “teetering” between Demola and Javen, 28, throughout the experiment.

“I just wasn’t quite there [with you],” she told him. “I just felt, like, with Javen, the connection was stronger with him.”

Despite a strong pull to Javen, Katisha started to have doubts after hearing about his alleged behavior on a night out. Other cast members claimed that Javen kept flirting with other women and acted like he was single when Katisha was not around. While Javen denied the accusations, Katisha still called off their engagement. It’s currently unknown whether Katisha and Demola will reconcile after her breakup.

Dotun, meanwhile, has been watching his cousin’s journey unfold.

“Finally caught up on last week’s ep of LiB. Almost more excited for @demolaayilara14 season than my Bachelorette season,” Dotun wrote in another Instagram Story post on Wednesday. “Way to put your whole heart out there family, [it’s] not easy, especially in that format.”

He added, “Best believe imma be tuning into yesterday’s episodes on this flight. I will be sat to watch a certain lady on this show regret her giant, obvious mistake .”

Love Is Blind UK is currently streaming on Netflix. New episodes drop Wednesdays.
