Jack Draper officially confirmed his split from sportswear giant Nike on the eve of the US Open.

Draper has been a Nike athlete throughout his fledgling career so far, but that contract reportedly expired recently.

The world number five, however, decided not to renew with the biggest global sports brand.

Instead, the 22-year-old has signed a multi-year deal with US athleisure brand Vuori.

Draper will develop a signature line with Vuori, but will wear the brand at the US Open.

He kicked off his campaign in the newly-revamped mixed doubles alongside Jessica Pegula, which is taking place before the singles event.

The pair beat Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu in the last-16 and then won against Daniil Medvedev and Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-final.

They face Iga Swiatek and Casper Ruud in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.

Draper was sporting the Vuori clothing during those matches as he made his split official.

“For me, style is about how you carry yourself, what you wear, and owning who you are without hesitation,” Draper said.

“As I’ve grown up, I’ve really embraced style as a form of self-expression, and whether it’s shaving my head or trying something bold, I just go for it.

“That’s why collaborating with Vuori is so exciting. It’s a chance to create something innovative, performance-driven, and authentic, with no compromises.”

Draper has also done his fair share of modelling over recent years and was the face of a Burberry campaign earlier this year alongside Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Leaving Nike

Draper leaving the sportswear giant is nothing new as several big name stars have done so over the years.

The 2025 Indian Wells champion cited the chances to create something ‘innovative’ at Vuori with his own sportswear line.

With Nike, very few athletes are awarded that luxury – especially when Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the undisputed kings of the men’s game, are also with the brand.

Earlier in 2025, Frances Tiafoe decided to ditch Nike with a bold move to go to Lululemon.

But perhaps the two most iconic athletes to do the same are Roger Federer and Tiger Woods.

Federer split from Nike in 2018 and walked away from a $100m contract, instead joining Uniqlo.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion inked a 10-year, $300m deal with the Japanese clothing retail chain.

This has stretched well into his retirement, but that was always the plan.

“What really resonated with me when we were speaking to UNIQLO was that they respected me not just as an athlete but also as a person with interests and passions beyond the sport,” Federer said.

“I have to eventually think about life after tennis and Uniqlo was a great match for that.”

A more recent example is Tiger Woods ending his 27-year partnership with Nike in a surprise move.

He signed a $40m contract when he turned professional in 1996 and inked multiple follow-up deals.

The most recent of those was a 10-year extension in 2013 worth a reported $200m.

Instead, he launched his own apparel brand, Sun Day Red, which started up in 2024.

2025 US Open

The US Open singles will begin on Sunday, August 24 with the draw scheduled to be made in the days beforehand.

Draper will be the number five seed at Flushing Meadow as he looks to win his first Grand Slam title.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner will be the men’s number one seed, while Alcaraz is just behind him on the second.

Sinner worryingly had to retire from the Cincinnati Open final against Alcaraz on Monday, just days before the US Open begins, due to illness.

This forced him to withdraw from the mixed doubles.

In the women’s draw, Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed, while Coco Gauff and Iga Swiatek make up the top three.
